Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 is a very encouraging portion of Scripture for it reminds us that there is an appointed time for every event under heaven and that there are “life event” events common to all of us. As it says in Ecclesiastes 1:9, “…there is nothing new under the sun.” When life comes at us hard and fast, it is easy to feel like saying, “I am the only one this has ever happened to and certainly no one can understand what I am going through.” This is not true, though, because we have a risen Savior who has not only experienced what we have, but also ever stands ready to help us in our time of need. This is a strong truth that will keep us stable: there is help whenever we need it because “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Ps.46:1). Aren’t you thankful for our strong, tender Lord?

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” (Is.41:10).
