The Church at South Mountain (CASM) is a multi-racial reformed Bible church. Our vision is to magnify the glory of God by proclaiming the Gospel of grace to every race and preparing believers through clear Bible teaching to impact their world.
Christ-Centered
To be Christ-centered means that the Word of God, properly interpreted and applied, is our ultimate authority for belief and conduct. Christ—not a man or a group of men—is the head of the church. Jesus is Lord over His church! Therefore, at CASM, Christ is the focus of every worship service, prayer time, outreach effort, Bible study, service opportunity, and everything we are as a people. Our priorities are Christ first, Christ second, and Christ third. It is all about Christ!
Expository Preaching
The pastors and elders of CASM believe that the most biblical way to teach God’s Word is through expository preaching. This form of preaching involves the expositing, or comprehensive explanation, of Scripture, usually verse by verse through entire books of the Bible. More
Leadership
We believe that as the leadership goes, so goes the church. Leadership must model Christlikeness for the flock. Leadership must also equip the saints for the work of ministry. We unashamedly follow the biblical model of godly, qualified male leadership. Learn more about our leaders.
People
Our congregation is a multi-racial group of people that is welcoming, loving, and committed to one another. We seek to live out the “one another” commands described in the Bible, such as pray for, encourage, serve, build up, and admonish one another.
Purpose
We believe that our chief end as a people is “to glorify God and enjoy Him forever” (Westminster Shorter Catechism, Q1) and our purpose as a church is to be a “pillar and support of the truth” (1 Tim.3:15). Therefore, our passion is to know God and proclaim the good news about Him in a clear and complete way so that people may come to know Christ savingly. We also desire to see those who trust Christ serve Him as King and grow in the fellowship of His church.
Our purpose is not church growth, but growth in the “grace and knowledge of our Lord…Jesus Christ” (2 Pet.3:18), by means of the truth, prayer, and the Spirit of God (John 17:17; Heb.4:16; 1 Cor.2:10-14). The reason for this is “so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God” (1 Cor.2:5).
